Set a revised target of 213 to win from 45 overs, the hosts got home with six balls to spare with Ramnaresh Sarwan's unbeaten century the difference between the sides.
Having elected to bat first, Ireland lost William Porterfield for 10 and Andre Botha for nine but a partnership of 51 between Paul Stirling, who was eventually run out for 51 and Niall O'Brien, who made 49, gave the innings a boost.
Kevin O'Brien hit a quick-fire 51 to give the innings some much-needed momentum and the tourists eventually finished on 219, with 17-year-old George Dockrell dismissed off the final ball of the 50th over.
The Windies made a dreadful start, losing Andre Fletcher for one and Shivnarine Chanderpaul for a duck before rain began to fall with the home side on 9-2 in the sixth over.
Then target was then revised and Sarwan made sure of victory, hitting 11 fours in his knock, while Narsingh Deonarine smashed two sixes and four fours in his rapid 57, as the men from the Caribbean got home from the final ball of the 44th over.
