Prior hoping for IPL compromise

Wicket-keeper Matt Prior insists he is committed to the England cause but feels the ECB might have to soften their stance on the IPL.

The player auction for the sub-continental extravaganza recently took place and Prior was not picked up by any of the franchises, meaning he has missed out on another opportunity to make a decent amount of money in a short space of time.
The ECB only allows England-contracted players to play half of the IPL season as they are required to report for international duty by May 5 to prepare for the upcoming Tests.
Prior believes that it is this fact that has hindered his and other England stars' chances of playing in the competition, with Ravi Bopara also unsold this time around.

The Sussex man admits that he is fully focused on his career with England but believes it is inevitable that the authorities will have to rethink their policies to avoid conflict with some of the top players.
"I'm employed by the ECB, so I do what the ECB says right now," he told the BBC. "If that's when the Test matches are, then that's when the Test matches are. My priority is playing Test cricket for England and when I am needed to play Test cricket for England I will play."
He added: "The one thing, however, is that the IPL and these Twenty20 competitions are not going away. People love them and the players enjoy playing in them, so there are going to be more and more people getting frustrated at the lack of opportunity to play in the IPL. So things may have to change in time."
