Gary Kirsten has been appointed as the new coach of South Africa and has signed a two-year deal with the Proteas.

The 43-year-old led India to World Cup victory in April but quit his post after the conclusion of the tournament.
The former Test opener always looked the most likely candidate to replace Corrie van Zyl at the helm and he will have the tough task of guiding the side against Australia later in the year.
Kirsten played 101 Tests and 185 one-day internationals for South Africa and was a major reason behind their re-emergence as a top cricketing nation and he has carried on his success into the coaching sphere, with India currently the best side in the world.

The Cape Town-born tactician is relishing the chance to work with his former team-mates and admits that he will continue to coach in the same way that brought so much success to the Asians.
"Having filled the same position with the Indian national team for the past three years I believe this is a natural progression as far as my coaching career is concerned," he said.
"My coaching philosophy will not be any different than it was for India. I always endeavour to influence players in a positive way and give them options so that they can grow both as cricketers and as people."
