Confidence grows over Champs League

A conference call on December 12 will decide the fate of the postponed Champions League cricket tournament.

The Twenty20 festival was originally due to run from late September until early October but was delayed due to administration problems.
It was then put back further from its rescheduled December 3 start date because of the Mumbai terrorist attacks, with many in the game thinking it might be jettisoned for good.
However following England's decision to resume their tour to the sub-continent, albeit with a revised schedule, it appears that all parties are keen to find a solution to the problems of staging the event.
Champions League spokesman Javed Akhtar is confident that the lucrative tournament will still be played in India, with the safety of players and fans of utmost importance.

"There will be increased security at all levels," he told the BBC. "I think the teams will have no issues since England are returning to India."
Middlesex chief executive Vinny Codrington is also optimistic they will be able to travel to India."
"We will liaise closely with the ECB in relation to the security side of things," he added. "The lads, all things being equal, will be very keen to go back.
"Clearly we have to go through the same due diligence that the England management have done with the England players.
"But in their heart of hearts the players will want to go back and prove that they can compete against the best."
