Anderson still upbeat

James Anderson is confident that England can avoid a 7-0 whitewash when England face Australia at Chester-le-Street on Sunday.

Andrew Strauss's side went 6-0 down in the series after a humiliating 111-run defeat at Trent Bridge on Thursday evening and the agony will end for the home side at the Riverside on Sunday.
England have been outplayed in all departments, with their batsmen unable to put together any meaningful partnerships and too many of the top six getting 20s and 30s before giving their wickets away.

Lancashire man Anderson, who took 4-55 on his return to the side in Nottingham, says the entire squad are unhappy with the way they have played over the past couple of weeks but he does not feel that there is as big a gulf between the two sides as the scoreline would suggest.
"Obviously we don't want to lose 7-0 so there's going to be a lot of pride at stake on Sunday," he said. "We are very disappointed with the way we have played in the series.
"We have never really clicked as a team, but the vast majority of us in the dressing room believe we can beat Australia and think 6-0 flatters them a bit."
