Afridi ? It will not happen again

Pakistan's Shahid Afridi has apologised for the ball-tampering incident which has seen him banned for the first T20 with England.

The big-hitting all-rounder, who was skippering the Pakistan side in the absence of Mohammad Yousuf, was caught on camera attempting to alter the state of the ball by biting it in the fifth one-day international against Australia in Perth.
The 29-year-old was seen to hold the ball in both hands on two separate occasions and run his teeth across the leather to try and scuff up one side to increase the amount the ball may swing.
But it made little difference as Australia reached their target of 213 with two wickets and four balls remaining to seal a 5-0 whitewash.
Afridi will also miss the one-off Twenty20 with Australia in Melbourne on Friday and the one-day specialist was extremely repentant after being told of his punishment.

"I am ashamed," he said. "I did it in the heat of the moment as the match was a close one, but I should not have done that, it's a serious offence.
"I apologise to all and everyone involved in the match and to the fans around the world. This will never happen again."
It is not the fist time Afridi has been in trouble with the authorities for falling foul of the laws as he was banned for one Test and two one-day internationals in 2005 for deliberately scuffing up the wicket with his spikes in a match against England in Faisalabad.
